Kristine Weatherston is a filmmaker, media producer, and educator whose creative work includes documentary, narrative, and scriptwriting. She is originally from Detroit, Michigan.  Prior to joining Temple faculty in 2012, Kristine held a variety of media production positions with broadcast and cable networks, local affiliates, and award-winning independent film producers. In 2018, she completed her most recent documentary, Under Pressure: The Hidden Story of Pregnancy and Preeclampsia (2018), a film focused on women’s health issues and a little-known disease of pregnancy, told through the stories of survivors themselves.  She expanded the documentary into a podcast, which won a 2019 Independent Media Finishing Fund grant from Scribe Video Center. Kristine also won a faculty fellowship with the Emmys Foundation (2013), two faculty fellowships with NATPE (2013 and 2017), two Temple University Library Affordable Textbook Project grants (2014 and 2015), two Klein College Merit Scholars awards (2015 and 2016), the Klein College Creative Faculty Award (2016), and the Klein College Creative Work for Pedagogy Award (2019). She frequently presents on documentary, video production, scriptwriting, and media education at the University Film and Video Association and the Broadcast Education Association conferences. Throughout her 20 year production career, she’s screened her creative work in venues, competitions, and festivals nationally and internationally, and was a 2009 artist-in-residence with the Hungarian Multicultural Center in Budapest, Hungary.
