Biography
With mixed methods, my studies focus on how Chinese youngsters explore their modern identities via playful practices––transcultural fandom––initiated by consuming global media products. When I was pursuing my master’s degree in China, I participated in a research program “Research on Utilization and Addiction of Social Media among Chinese Teenagers.” At that time, I became familiar with quantitative methods, and started to think about the relationship between new media and Chinese youngsters’ everyday life. After I became a doctoral student in Temple University, I am being trained as a critical scholar. I have tried to develop my interest with my transcultural background, looking into Chinese youngsters’ subculture as a phenomenon of cultural globalization.
