Learning about the resources and opportunities, especially for Klein students, such as Klein Engagement, Development and Growth Experiences (Klein EDGE) and Klein Global Opportunities (Klein GO), allowed me to see how much Klein cares about students. Every contact I made with a Temple faculty member, even before I had decided to transfer to Temple, demonstrated to me their dedication to helping students succeed. This proved to me that Temple was the right place for me, as I saw it as a place where I would be supported.
When I decided to transfer schools, one of my biggest priorities was finding a place where I felt I truly belonged. Within a few days as a student at Temple, I felt I was a part of the community. I connected with several faculty members and professors who made it immediately clear that they want to see me succeed and are ready and willing to support me in any way I need. I have been surrounded by a community that not only helps me achieve my goals, but celebrates alongside me when I do achieve them.

Communication Studies, Public Relations
I knew I wanted to attend school in a city to pursue communications and be close to industry professionals. Temple worked with my community college to transfer nearly all my credits, so it was a no-brainer.
I immediately felt at home in Klein. It felt like this was exactly where I was supposed to be. My professors were excited to welcome me as a transfer student and helped connect me to various opportunities and programs on campus. As a transfer student, it's easy to feel like you're behind in getting involved or finding your place. Ignore those thoughts, set goals and embrace all opportunities.

Audio and Live Entertainment
It feels like I got a late start, but I’m right where I need to be. If it weren’t for Klein (and Temple in general), who knows if I would’ve come out of my shell. Do I know precisely where I’m going? No, not a clue. And I’m not going to act like I do. But I do feel like I’m closer to knowing it because of how much I’ve accomplished since being at Temple.
My advice to all new students is to embrace failure. You’re not going to know everything right now, and that’s how it’s supposed to be. Do not look to your left or to your right. Keep the focus on your purpose. Don’t feel like you have to be doing something special already because you’re worried about what others might think. As long as you know you’re taking action, then you’ll be okay. Give yourself grace solely for the reason of being a person who deserves it unconditionally.

Communication and Social Influence
While researching all of Temple’s majors, I came across communication and social influence (CSI), which highlighted my passion for advocacy. I was intrigued that the major wasn’t focused on the management side of nonprofits but on the advocacy side.
As my first semester progressed, Klein started to feel like the right place for me. I could tell the professors genuinely cared for me and my peer mentors helped me get involved in clubs. I may have felt like an outsider, but no one in Klein ever made me feel like it. Klein took me in with open arms and made me feel at home.
Shed the idea that you are just a transfer student; you’re now a Klein student.
