Almost half of Temple’s incoming students have transferred from other colleges and universities. If you’ve earned 15 or more college-level credits after high school graduation, you might be considered for transfer admission.
Klein College is committed to making the transfer process as easy as possible. Keep reading to find out how to apply and when to submit your application.
Temple exclusively uses the Common Application for all transfer student submissions.
There’s an application fee of $55, which you will submit with the Common Application unless you qualify for a waiver through a federal or state program.
After submitting the Common Application, you’ll need to send your official high school and college transcripts to our Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
The best option is to have official transcripts sent to us electronically. Select Temple University from the drop-down menu (if available) on your institution's website.

This is the basis of our admissions decision, as it is most telling of the work you will demonstrate as a Temple student. All previous college coursework is considered even if you attended more than one college or university.
We require an official high school transcript for students who have completed fewer than 30 college credits. We may review your high school work as part of our admission decision.
Your essay is your chance to explain why you’d like to transfer, give insight into your academic performance and tell us something that’s not evident in your application.
Tell us about what you do outside the classroom. Your outside interests help paint the full picture of who you are and can factor into the review process.
If you have at least 15 college credits, SAT/ACT scores are usually not required for transfer admission unless our admissions team specifically requests them.
Although not required for transfer students, we accept letters of recommendation. Your letters should be submitted by individuals who can speak to your academic abilities and personal accomplishments, such as an advisor or professor.
Transfer applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for each semester. We can review most applications without needing to see your current grades, so we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. The sooner you submit your application, the sooner you will receive a decision.
New transfer students with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher at the time of admission are considered for academic scholarships. There is no separate application required.
Scholarships are renewable for up to three years as a full-time undergraduate student as long as you maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher at Temple.
There’s no limit to the number of credits we accept, but you must complete at least 45 of your last 60 credits at Temple in order to receive a Temple degree. Our Admissions Office will let you know which credits are acceptable through a mailed official credit evaluation after you’re admitted.
Generally, Temple accepts academic, college-level courses beyond the developmental level, completed with a grade of C or better from schools with regional accreditation.
Each academic department determines how credits apply to your major, and students meet with advising units during on-campus registration. For more information about transferring credits to Temple, check out our Undergraduate Bulletin.
Temple also awards college credits to students who participated in Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate programs in high school.

We’ve partnered with several regional, two-year colleges to create a clear path from community college to a Temple degree—so that students who have completed 30 or fewer college credits can transfer their credits and earn their degree here.
If you’re enrolled in Dual Admissions, admission to most majors at Temple is guaranteed if you finish an associate degree with a GPA of 2.3 or higher. And if you graduate from your community college with a GPA of 3.3 or higher, you’re also guaranteed additional scholarships.
